Initiating a Gateway Review
Gateway Reviews should be undertaken on the following projects:
- Projects rated as medium or high risk on the Project Profile Model (PPM);
- Projects nominated by the Expenditure Review Committee (ERC) as part of the ERC budgetary approval process; or
- Projects nominated by any sub-committees of cabinet.
If you are a Senior Responsible Owner or Project Manager and think that your project might fall into one of the above categories, or if you are not sure if your project should undergo a Gateway Review, you should:
- request or download the PPM;
- Complete the PPM for your project; and
- arrange for your departmental or agency Gateway Coordinator to forward the PPM to the Gateway Unit via the Gateway Helpdesk.
A representative from the Gateway Unit will then validate the results of the PPM, discuss the results with you, and determine whether a Gateway Review is required.
Once the need for a Gateway Review is established, the Gateway Unit and the SRO/PM will agree on dates for the Planning Day and Review, and the Gateway Unit will appoint a Review Team.
The Gateway Unit needs 6-8 weeks notice of a review in order to undertake the necessary planning and team selection. The time frames for a review can be seen via this link.
